Nearing Grace is an edgy, provocative film which showcases the trials and tribulations a teenage boy experiences while coming of age. Jordana Brewster plays the ultra sexy, most sought after girl in school who lures Henry Nearing, played by David Morse, into her world and ultimately fulfills his fantasy! But at what price?INVISIBLE CIRCUS - DVD MovieAn affecting movie about ghosts and illusions, The Invisible Circus follows Phoebe (Jordana Brewster), an American girl who's retracing the path of her sister Faith (Cameron Diaz), hoping to discover what led to Faith's mysterious death. Using the ! postcards that Faith sent her from Europe as a map, Phoebe travels from Amsterdam to Paris to Portugal, learning from Faith's ex-boyfriend Wolf (Christopher Eccleston) about a side of Faith that Phoebe knew nothing about--a side that overturns all of Phoebe's cherished beliefs about her sister and herself. The performances in The Invisible Circus are uneven, and yet the culmination of the movie captures something piercingly sad, something acute and evocative about how survivors create myths about the lost, myths that can both help and hinder their lives. Blythe Danner plays the mother of the two girls in a brief but subtly powerful performance. --Bret FetzerNew issue featuring Jordana Brewster. Also, 25 Best gadgets control the world from your couch; Orgasm of the Month Club; in the octagon with georges st-pierre; Dorm room drug lordsSultry crime boss Lucy Diamond (Jordana Brewster, The Fast and the Furious) is back in the states and the D.E.B.S.- an elite team of paramilitary college co-ed superspies- are hot on her trail. But when their top agent, gorgeous Amy Bradshaw (Sara Foster, The Big Bounce), mysteriously disappears after coming face to face with the attractive young villainess, the D.E.B.S. begin a full-scale search for Lucy's secret lair, never suspecting that Amy may not want to be rescued after all, in this smart and sexy spy spoof about love at first gun sight. You can say this about D.E.B.S.: director Angela Robinson̢۪s 2005 feature isn̢۪t very good, but it is surprisingly entertaining. The premise, which bears a passing resemblance to any number of previous films (from Heathers and Clueless to ! Charlie̢۪s Angels and the Austin Powers franchise), involves a secret government agency recruiting young women as spies, based on their smarts, their ability to lie convincingly, and the fact that they look fetching in ultra-miniskirts. Four of the D.E.B.S. are then charged with collaring "criminal mastermind" Lucy Diamond (Jordana Brewster), who has returned to the States after hatching all manner of nefarious plots overseas. Then comes the twist: Diamond is gay, and one of our heroines, Amy Bradshaw (Sara Foster), unexpectedly finds herself falling in love with her. Out goes the espionage element; in comes the love story, and therein lies the surprise, as this burgeoning lesbian relationship is handled with unexpected sympathy, even tenderness. Sure, the acting, even by veteran grownups like Holland Taylor and Michael Clarke Duncan, is almost uniformly lame, and the script is silly; overall, the film would have to put on considerable weight to even be consider! ed frothy. Still, D.E.B.S. isn̢۪t a bad way to kill a ! couple o f hours. DVD bonus features include a making-of featurette and commentary by Robinson and the cast. --Sam GrahamHere at HDQ we offer unmatched reprint quality, unmatched durability and unmatched shipping speed. Trick 'r Treat

  • The doorbell rings, the cry goes out: Trick R Treat! But, wait. What s actually going on during this ghostly All Hallows Eve? Something eerie and unexpected. Something splattered and spooky. Something that brings ghouls, vampires and werewolves into the night. Answer the door a shocking surprise awaits. Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: HORROR Rating: R Age: 085391176190 UPC:
Dustin Hoffman presents Diane Lane (MURDER AT 1600, JACK), Liev Schreiber (SPHERE, SCREAM I&II), and Viggo Mortensen (A PERFECT MURDER, THE LORD OF THE RINGS) in a provocative and sensual story about one woman's personal sexual revolution! It's the summer of 1969 and Pearl (Lane) is spending yet another vacation with her family when she realizes that the freedom of the times is passing her by. Following a chance meeting with a sexy, free-spirited young man (Mortensen), Pearl is soon doing the unthinkable: having a daring, pa! ssionate affair! Also starring Academy Award(R)-winner Anna Paquin (Best Supporting Actress, THE PIANO, 1993; SHE'S ALL THAT) in a powerful motion picture that's been called one of the year's best -- Pearl must ultimately decide between the love of her husband and children ... or the lure of her newfound desires!Although its tale of marital crisis unfolds a bit too cleanly, A Walk on the Moon--which was coproduced by Dustin Hoffman--offers a welcome relief from the juvenile assault of skull-throbbing blockbusters. The story is gently involving, the characters are authentic, and, best of all, Diane Lane is given a chance to show why she's one of the most genuine and underrated actresses of her generation. Here she plays Pearl Kantrowitz, a devoted housewife on a routine vacation in the Catskills with her TV repairman husband Marty (Liev Schreiber), 14-year-old daughter (Anna Paquin), and rambunctious younger son (Tovah Feldshuh).

It's the summer of 1969. Neil Ar! mstrong has made his "one small step for man," Woodstock is ab! out to h appen nearby (leading to a barely plausible dramatic coincidence), and while her husband is away on business, Pearl is cautiously receptive to the seductions of "the blouse man" (Viggo Mortensen), a hippie salesman who offers the adventure and passion that Pearl sacrificed to young pregnancy and marriage. Once the stage for infidelity is set, A Walk on the Moon progresses predictably, but first-time screenwriter Pamela Gray stays true to the emotions of her characters, and actor Tony Goldwyn (making a smooth directorial debut) maintains precisely the right tone to downplay most of the movie's dramatic clichés. Add to this a sharp dynamic between Lane and Paquin, whose performances create a substantial mother-daughter relationship. Graced by stolen moments and fleeting expressions that speak volumes, this unassuming little film is eminently worthwhile. --Jeff ShannonThere's something in this house...Something ancient and dark that remains still, hidden and sile! nt. It can only wait, having been concealed in the shadows for years. In fact, its milieu is darkness. Only in it can it show itself and move. It even takes its name: DARKNESS. It's lived here since someone tried to call it, more than forty years ago. Because this house hides a secret, a terrible past, an inconceivably evil act. Seven children, faceless people, a circle that must be completed. And blood, lots of blood... But something went wrong. One of the children got away. The circle wasn't completed. That's why what lives here isn't finished. It's just waiting...It tries to carry out what it couldn't before, making plans in the shadows, to become complete, to be, to exist. A new family has just moved into the house. A small child. An unstable father capable of losing his temper at any time. A perfect target. The right place at the right time. The pieces only have to be put in place. And then wait. Maybe the family's daughter will be able to discover the truth; the dark ! secret of the past, the sinister conspiracy, the truth about w! hat thre atens them. Why is the father getting worse? What is her little brother afraid of? Why doesn't her mother listen to her? And why do the lights keep going out? It could be that nothing happens by chance, that everything has been worked out from the start. A devilish plan, precise and exact like a time-bomb. Her father's illness, the house, the circles, the children. Perhaps she can foresee darkness' master stroke of play and the inevitable destiny that is closing in on her family. But maybe it's too late....FLY AWAY HOME - SPECIAL EDITION - DVD MovieThere are some filmmaking teams that invariably bring out the best in each other, and that's definitely the case with director Carroll Ballard and cinematographer Caleb Deschanel. They previously collaborated on The Black Stallion and Never Cry Wolf, and Fly Away Home is their third family film that deserves to be called a classic. Inspired by Bill Lishman's autobiography, the movie tells the story of a 13-ye! ar-old girl (Anna Paquin) who goes to live with her estranged, eccentric father (Jeff Daniels) following the death of her mother. At first she's withdrawn and reclusive, but finds renewed happiness when she adopts an orphaned flock of baby geese and, later, teaches them to migrate using an ultralight. Sensitively directed and stunningly photographed, the movie has flying sequences that are nothing short of astonishing, and Daniels and Paquin (Oscar winner for The Piano) make a delightful father-daughter duo. (Ironically, the digital video disc is not available in widescreen format, but the image quality is brilliant.) --Jeff ShannonDustin Hoffman presents Diane Lane (MURDER AT 1600, JACK), Liev Schreiber (SPHERE, SCREAM I&II), and Viggo Mortensen (A PERFECT MURDER, THE LORD OF THE RINGS) in a provocative and sensual story about one woman's personal sexual revolution! With a True Blood-like poster featuring portraits of Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer hovering in front of a haunted house, one may mistakenly expect a vampire tale starring this popular horror-series couple. However, Open House, written and directed by Anna's brother, Andrew Paquin, is a far cry from the hit TV series. Rather, it is a slow-paced horror film in which couple Josh (Moyer) and Alice (Rachel Blanchard) try to sell their home to prepare for divorce but encounter a hazard in the form o! f psychotic couple David (Brian Geraghty) and Lila (Tricia Hel! fer), wh o steal the home and move right in, with deadly results. In fact, Paquin, as Alice's friend Jennie, and Moyer have mere cameos in Open House. The bulk of the plot is devoted to David's conundrum as Alice struggles to stay alive in the basement. While Open House is not overly gory, there are bloody moments. Overall, it is no Texas Chainsaw Massacre, meaning that the film is not about gore in itself. The film is primarily a psychological investigation of a man who is torn between torturing and killing. This narrative has created some rich horror film territory--see any of Dario Argento's films, such as Opera--but Open House mines no new approach. A couple of odd, funny moments, like when David offers Alice a sandwich while he gets out his laptop to work despite her bruised, defeated appearance, hint at the contemporary edge, an ennui, that this film tries so hard to achieve. But it is mostly a fluffy rehash of a story that horror films can on! ly pull off if they have either style or script going for them, not to mention a captivating criminal character. Open House lacks engaging characters or original vision. For a stronger horror film along similar lines, check out Terribly Happy, a Danish movie with enough plot twists and curve balls that the crimes perpetrated convey not only dark humor but also a deeper social message. --Trinie DaltonA couple on the verge of a nasty divorce attempt to sell their empty love nest and move on with their lives, separately. But, wait. What's actually going on during this ghostly All Hallows Eve? Something eerie and unexpected. Something splattered and spooky. Something that brings ghouls, vampires and w! erewolves into the night. Answer the door â€" a shocking surprise awaits. From producer Bryan Singer (director of X-Men and Superman Returns) and writer-director Michael Dougherty (co-scripter of X2 and Superman Returns) comes a multitale bag of wicked yarns, four cleverly interlocked stories built on Shocktober admonitions like always check the candy and don’t extinguish the jack-o-lantern before midnight. So answer the door now: Experience horror made for today's fright fan.Trick 'r Treat, directed by Michael Dougherty of Superman Returns fame, has a comic book feel but does a nice job of conveying the real things that can spook kids, making for a good Halloween thriller. Composed of four intertwined stories that unfold simultaneously, starting on the same block in Ohio, Trick 'r Treat initially bears some resemblance to John Carpenter's Halloween, in that it focuses on terrors experienced by teens and young, costumed children. As the short t! ales become increasingly violent and complex, one begins to se! e that m any culprits are responsible, and that a general haunting of all neighborhood jack-o'-lanterns is the root cause of some gory crimes. For example, in one segment, Emma (Leslie Bibb), against the wishes of her husband, Henry (Tahmoh Penikett), blows out a candle in her jack-o'-lantern and pays dearly as her night unfolds. Meanwhile, Laurie (Anna Paquin of True Blood), a young woman dressed as Little Red Riding Hood, goes to the woods to party with her sister and two girlfriends, attracting a stalker whose smile alone is creepy enough to startle a slumber party crowd. The two stories starring younger kids carry the film, however. In one, elementary-schooler Charlie (Brett Kelly) meets with the demented school principal, Steven (Dylan Baker), who assesses Charlie's love of stealing candy and thrashing pumpkins. At the same time, a witchy nerd named Rhonda (Samm Todd) is invited to join a young gang at an abandoned rock quarry and faces the mean gang leader, Macy (Britt M! cKillip), after a prank goes awry. "Earlier" or "Later" periodically flash onscreen in comic-book typeface, successfully directing the viewer through time and also relieving some tension that would've built through a single sustained story. In this, light comedy and some downright silliness shine through. All the kids are in great costumes, and the film, overall, has a festive goth look. By the end, one trusts that Trick 'r Treat is really targeting the younger age group that it highlights, yet it contains enough spook to make adults jumpy as well. --Trinie Dalton

The film begins with a mysterious gypsy-like musician leading the crowds at Waterloo station in London in a dance to the title song. At the station, two strangers, Rikki Thukral and Alvira Khan, wait for their respective fiancés. Rikki is a fun-loving Punjabi boy from Bhatinda who lives in Southall, while Alvira is a middle class Pakistani girl from Lahore who is more assimilated into British culture. The two share a table in a café together and to kill the time they talk about how they met thei! r partners-to-be. Rikki, handsome but primitive in the Desi way, says that he met his fiancé, Anaida Raza, at the Hôtel Ritz Paris, the same night that Diana, Princess of Wales and Dodi Al-Fayed left the hotel to take their last journey together. Rikki explains "When two lovers die, another two are born", as he fell in love with Anaida that night. Alvira says she met her fiancé, the dashing lawyer Steve Singh at Madame Tussauds in London when he saved her from death by a falling Superman wax model. The encounter changed her life and she was smitten by the lawyer who also helped her sue Madame Tussauds for substantial damages. As Rikki and Alvira talk they begin to enjoy each other's company and their different backgrounds cease to matter. They exchange numbers and go to meet their partners. However, it is then revealed that they had not gone to meet their respective partners. Rikki is in fact at the train station to meet his business partner, while Alvira is meeting her ! relatives. As they leave the station separately, they realize ! they are in love, but believe their love is unrequited, each of the other. The two get in touch when Alvira calls Rikki, pretending it was a wrong number. They decide to meet up at a disco where there is a dance competition but both try to maintain the fiction that they are engaged. Out of desperation, Rikki hires Laila, a prostitute, to pose as Anaida, and Alvira asks Satvinder -- a mummy's boy/optician -- to pretend to be Steve. The four meet at a club and take part in the dance competition, while throwing insults at each other. Rikki and Laila emerge as the winners but Alvira is jealous and storms out in tears. Satvinder goes to Rikki's flat and tells him that he has fallen in love with Laila. He also tells him that Alvira is not engaged to him. Rikki, realizing what has happened, goes to see Alvira, who is at first moping in bed and later tries to convince her cousin not to marry her. Rikki calls her from a neighbor's window. The film ends with the mysterious gypsy musician show! ing how Rikki and Alvira invented the stories about the non-existent lovers by taking inspiration from Alvira's newspaper and Rikki's comic book.Veer-Zaara Reproduction Poster Print Indian Style A 11 x 17 Inches - 28cm x 44cm

Burlesque and the Art of the Teese

"I advocate glamour. Every day. Every minute."

I'm a good dancer and a nice girl, but I'm a great showgirl. I sell, in a word, magic. Burlesque is a world of illusion and dreams and of course, the striptease. Whether I am bathing in my martini glass, riding my sparkling carousel horse, or emerging from my giant gold powder compact, I live out my most glamorous fantasies by bringing nostalgic ! imagery to life.

Let me show you my world of gorgeous pin-ups, tantalizing stripteases, and femmes fatales. I'll give you a glimpse into my life, but a lady never reveals all.

Fetish and the Art of the Teese

You may have come for the fetish. Or you may just be sneaking a peek at this mysterious and peculiar other side. No matter what you've come for, there is something for you to indulge in.

My world of fetish may not be the one that you would expect. As a burlesque performer, I entice my audience, bringing their minds closer and closer to sex and then -- as good temptress must -- snatching it away. As a fetish star, I apply the same techniques. . . .

An opera-length kid leather glove, a strict wasp waist, an impossibly high patent leather heel, a severely painted red lip. . . . Come with me into my world of decadent fetishism.

Dita is the most popular model of today. Her distinctive ! style is a unique combination of retro glamor, pin-up and high! -art ero ticism, and always perfect down to the smallest accessories. She only works with the best photographers - Baker, Czernich, James & James, Weathers - and, combined with her clear vision of how she wants to look, the result is always 100% stunning and 100% Dita.

Dominant or submissive, damsel in distress or provocative French maid, this genuine fetishist has laced herself up and paraded around in the highest of high heels - a true fetish goddess.

Will Hannah and Josh be able to overcome their obstacles and admit their feelings before the musical ends?Sinewy, sleek, and oozing charisma, Bruce Lee brought sex appeal to the martial arts genre, dominating even the most cliché-riddled adventures with his mix of good-humored geniality and focused intensity. His first film, the low-budget Hong Kong adventure Fists of Fury (as it was title! d in the U.S.), is exactly that: a raw, rough-edged revenge drama of a country boy who uncovers a heroin-smuggling ring. Yet the film comes alive when Lee pounces into action, his wiry, well-muscled frame erupting in lightning moves. His follow-up, The Chinese Connection, keeps the revenge theme going for a tale of a kung fu student who avenges his teacher's death at the hands of a Japanese rival. The international success of both films enabled the increasingly ambitious Lee to write and direct his own feature, Return of the Dragon, a more-comic tale of a Chinese country boy who travels to Rome to help out cousins under the thumb of local mobsters. Though filled with excellent martial arts bouts, all choreographed by Lee, the highlight is a death match between Lee and karate champion Chuck Norris in the Roman Colosseum. Lee died before completing his last feature, Game of Death, and a rather unconvincing double runs around much of the film between foota! ge of the real Lee, but the climax features an impressive bout! with ba sketball star and Lee student Kareem Abdul-Jabar. Though a cut above most martial arts movies of the period, these are no masterpieces, but then who watches a Bruce Lee film for the story? In these films, plot is simply there for the scenes between Lee's amazing fight sequences. The documentary Bruce Lee: The Legend completes the collection. --Sean Axmaker It's a fiery hot summer, and sixteen-year-old Jesse Wright is on the run. Korea Focus, October 9, 2010: Reading through the 103 episodes divided into nine chapters, the reader can get a picture of the ups and downs that led to Kim Jong-un̢۪s final designation as heir apparent. Interesting is the love story between Kim Kyong-hui, younger sister of Kim Jong-il, and Chang Sung-taek (a.k.a. Jang Song-thaek), who played a key role in the succession scheme, and how they succeeded in marrying in spite of Kim Il-sung̢۪s objection. Despite their own experience, the couple opposed their daughter̢۪s marriage to her boyfriend on the grounds his background was not good enough. Their daughter, Chang Gum-song, committed suicide in August 2006, while studying in Paris.

The book provides an in-depth description of how Kim Jong-un, after consolidating his position as heir apparent, raided his eldest half-brother Kim Jong-nam’s secret villa, Uamgak, in Pyongyang and later attempte! d to assassinate him in another country. The author defined th! e “att ack at Uamgak,” which took place in April 2009, as a “war of brothers.” He explains the incident resulted from a power struggle between the two brothers, in which Kim Jong-un tried to eliminate the forces surrounding Kim Jong-nam.

The book further discloses that a group of children of high-ranking officials in Pyongyang, named “Bonghwajo,” has emerged as a new power group supporting Kim Jong-un. The group is led by O Se-won, the son of O Kuk-ryol, a powerful general and vice chairman of the National Defense Commission; and Kang Tae-sung, the son of Vice Premier Kang Sok-chu, a veteran diplomat. The author defines the group as the “core power” to lead the era of Kim Jong-un.

LOVE LETTER - DVD MovieIts ads portrayed it as a wacky farce, while critics largely ignored it, presuming it to be a vanity project from Kate Capshaw (better known as Mrs. Steven Spielberg). But The Love Letter is neither; on the contrary, it's a low-key but surprisingly rich and touching film about love, illusions, and regret. Helen (Capshaw), a bookseller in a small seashore town, discovers an unsigned love letter that's fallen into the cushions of a couch in her store. The letter doesn't say who it's for, but Helen assumes it's for her and starts wondering who sent it. One would expect this to lead to a whirling comedy of mistaken identities, but after some amusing da! ydream moments, the movie follows its story with subtlety and nuance. The characters behave according to their own needs and desires, rather than the demands of standard Hollywood goofiness. The performances--from a cast including Tom Selleck (In and Out), Tom Everett Scott (That Thing You Do), Ellen DeGeneres (EDtv), newcomer Julianne Nicholson, and others--are uniformly unforced and natural. Viewers weary of the hyped-up, absurd emotional climaxes of most so-called romantic comedies will find a respite here. Beyond Sherwood Forest

  • BEYOND SHERWOOD FOREST (DVD MOVIE)
12th Century England: It is a deadly time of dark tyranny, black magic and the outlaw archer known as Robin Hood. But when the Sheriff of Nottingham unleashes a winged monster upon the nearby town and woods to massacre Robin̢۪s men and capture Maid Marian, hearts run cold with fear and streets red with blood. Before he can rob from the rich or give to the poor, can The Prince Of Thieves survive the demonic onslaught of a winged beast from another world? Katharine Isabelle co-stars in this chilling new take on the infamous hero from director Peter DeLuise, filled with valor, vengeance and nightmare creatures that take you behind the legend and BEYOND SHERWOOD FOREST.The Prince of Thieves encounters sorcery and CGI dragons in this action-fantasy hybrid, which aired on the SyFy Channel. The dragon in question is really the enchanted form of a woman (Katherin! e Isabelle) from another dimension, and in her scaly form, she killed the father of young Robin Hood. Flash forward a couple of decades, and the grown Robin (Robin Dunne) suffers a serious hitch in his take-from-the-rich-give-to-the-poor arrangement, courtesy of the evil Prince John (David Richmond-Peck) and the even more wicked Sheriff of Nottingham (Julian Sands, who consumes the scenery with relish), both of whom use the lady/dragon against him and his Merry Men. It's a novel idea, but executed with dreary pacing by actor-turned-director Peter DeLuise, rickety special effects, and dreadful acting by all save Sands and Erica Durance (Smallville's Lois Lane) as an action-ready Maid Marian. The story of Robin Hood has been told numerous times before, and in most cases, better than this. The widescreen DVD includes an original TV trailer and a brief making-of featurette. --Paul Gaita
